Transportation from Athens to Kyparissi:
Renting a car is the best way to travel. The drive from Athens takes about 4 hours and offers beautiful views along the way.
To keep Kyparissi’s charm intact, there are no gas stations in the village. Make sure to fill up before you arrive.
Directions
Kyparissi sits on the southeastern coast of the Peloponnese and can only be reached by road. The drive from Athens International Airport takes about 4 hours. It’s a good idea to leave Athens with a full tank of gas and plan to refuel in either Sparta or Geraki along the way.
Since Kyparissi doesn’t have a gas station, the nearest one being in Molaoi (about an hour away), you’ll want to make sure you top off before arriving. The good news is that you won’t be driving much once you’re there — so one fill-up on the way down should easily last through your stay and the return trip to Athens.
For navigation, we recommend using Google Maps and setting your destination to Kyparissi, not the larger Kyparissia (a common mix-up!). The route follows well-maintained highways before turning onto smaller village roads that can get quite winding. The last 30 minutes is a curvy descent into Kyparissi — take your time, enjoy the scenery, and don’t hesitate to pull over to let locals pass.
Please note that the nearest ATM, gas stations, and pharmacies are all located in Molaoi, about 50 km from Kyparissi. It is recommended that travelers bring Euros as many vendors do not accept certain credit cards.
Where to Stay
Hotels and Airbnbs
Kyparissi is full of amazing hotels and Airbnbs, making it a bit overwhelming to choose! They do fill up many months in advance due to the high demand of tourism in Kyparissi during the summer months.
We advise you to please go online and book a room if you think you will attend. All of these hotels are within walking distance of everything you’ll need during your stay.

WHAT TO BRING
July in Kyparissi is warm and bright, with average daytime temperatures around 87°F (31°C) and evenings near 74°F (23°C). When a heat wave rolls through, it can climb into the 90s or even higher, so come prepared for sunshine.
Pack sunscreen and mosquito repellent. Most essentials are available at the local supermarket, but it’s smart to bring a small first-aid kit, basic medicine—like Tylenol, Benadryl, cold/flew medications—since there isn’t a pharmacy in Kyparissi.
EAT & DRINK
All the restaurants in Kyparissi offer delicious Greek food. For breakfast we suggest going to Avra or Maritselas. For lunch we suggest Ploes or Cavo Kortia. For dinner the Souvlatzidiko (Kamares Grill House), the Kafeneio and Ploes are all great. Thini, the Baraki and Maritselas are always open for afternoon and late night drinks.
WHERE TO SWIM
Just below Cavo Kortia, you’ll find Agias Kyriakis (Αγίας Κυριακής) beach, along with a cove tucked beneath the hotel. The beaches in Kyparissi vary—from smooth pebbles to larger rocks—so water shoes are a good idea. You can easily pick up a pair, along with beach chairs and umbrellas, at the local supermarket.
